How I started Solar Marketing Corp

Solar Marketing Corp was started by one man with an idea. I wanted to build something that would change an entire industry.

  1. December 2022

Needed a laptop to study computer science. Started picking up freelance work on the side to pay for it.

  2. January 2023

Dropped the CS degree. Went all in on marketing even though everyone told me I was nuts. (Love you, Mum.)

“One gig turned into a calling, and suddenly I wasn’t dreaming about code anymore. I dropped computer science and founded my marketing agency.”

  3. February 2023

Started working with solar companies. Residential first.

Lead gen, Facebook ads. It worked. But the problem felt small.

  4. September 2023

Helping residential solar companies with Facebook ads worked.

But it felt like playing in the same sandbox as everyone else. We wanted to rewrite the rules, not just play by them.

  5. March 2024

A utility-scale developer asked if cold email could work for landowner outreach.

I said yes, because I had been doing cold email for so long, and figured it out from there.

  6. April 2024

The landowner pipeline problem was the same everywhere. Developers had lists. They were mailing them. Near-zero replies.

Brokers taking too much per deal. No fast, repeatable way to turn a list into conversations.

  7. May 2024

Stopped taking on any other clients. Utility-scale solar developers only.

Built a dedicated outbound channel on top of the lists developers already owned.

  8. July 2024

That became the landowner acquisition system.

It recovers the contacts a list is missing, sends from real inboxes, and keeps following up with the owners who go quiet. The moment one replies, the developer gets notified.

  9. November 2024

First real result: a developer had been mailing his landowner list for months. Almost nothing was coming back.

Ran it through the system. 96 interested replies from 821 parcels. 5 leases signed. 5 in negotiation. A full state pipeline in six months.

  10. January 2025

The list wasn’t the problem. The channel was.

Today

740 MW+ of site control facilitated across clients. One kind of client. One service. Landowner conversations, built on the lists developers already own.

You’ve heard our story. Now we want to hear yours, and how we can help.

Dropped computer science, spent years in marketing, and ended up solving one problem: how utility-scale solar developers turn their existing landowner lists into signed leases.

The first developer I worked with had been mailing his list for months, with near-zero replies. In one quarter the landowner acquisition system got 96 interested landowners from 821 parcels: 5 leases signed and 5 in negotiation. 740 MW+ of site control facilitated since. Same lists. A different channel.
